Hi :) I'm experiencing an odd behaviour on FreeBSD 13.1. When I dock my laptop to a docking station with an external monitor, I have to switch to a virtual TTY with C-M-f1, then back to X Windows with M-f9, before XOrg will detect the external monitor. I know this used to work several major versions ago; might I be missing a devd rule or something?

gogofc_: that isn't really a thing in freebsd, if the CPU is waiting for IO, it can be used for other stuff, and is just idle basically

Isn't the OS responsible, through its I/O API, for notifying processes when an I/O operation has data ready to be read (or an error occured or the operation is complete, etc)?

First thing that comes to mind from the Windows world is I/O completion ports.

Why might arping not be working for me when I ping by ethernet address? I can ping by IP just fine, but when I supply a hardware address I get a Timeout for every ping.

Not a complex topology.. Ethernet bridged to WiFi..
