If these are standard error numbers (don't know whether GELI uses them), 1 is EPERM. See: man errno

If you see the message again, try writing it down verbatim (with suitable redaction). That would help. Meanwhile, wait for someone who knows geli to look in. Maybe they'll be able to answer.

currently I have a "big machine" which exports a lot of ZVOL throuhg iSCSI, it works well but it's a SPOF (even if it's replicated every 5 min through zrepl) and it's a pain every time I have to upgrade (from one OS release to another for example)

so I was thinking of exporting a ZVOL from two machines and create a zpool mirror on top on the client

but.. I remember reading (a long time ago) that it's a recipe for deadlocks

Evening. Do we have an postfix <-> blacklistd expert here. I am using postfix and fail2ban. I get constant log messages " postfix/smtpd[61135]: bl_init: connect failed for /var/run/blacklistd.sock.. Yes becaus iI don't want to start the blacklistd service. I don't want the 2 systems to "interfere". How can I tell postfix not to use blacklistd? Thx for any pointer

no. smtpd is trying to connect to blacklistd. I am aware that direct comm to blacklistd might be the better solution but i have a log parsing fail3ban config that has worked for years. If i turn on blacklistd both "methods" are beeing triggert and activate rules in pf .... and thats not what I want
