nikolamI would like to run OmniosCE on top of SmartOS as hypervisor. Would like to use OmniOS zone/image as ISCSI initiator, so i can mount NTFS block device and share it over SMB
-
nikolamAs I have not found NTFS in SmartOS zone itself..
-
nikolamSo where I can get OmniOSCE images for SmartOS? Ready made or.. to create one from the working HVM with OmniOSCE ?
-
andyfThere are a range of images at downloads.omnios.org/media/stable that should work under smartos. The cloud variant has cloud-init there which should pick up settings from the hypervisor, otherwise there's a bhyve variant that's all set up to run under bhyve.
-
nikolamandyf, that is just great. :) Thanks
-
andyfLet us know how you get on - I've used the cloud image under a lot of different providers/hypervisors, but actually never on SmartOS and I know their cloud-init channel is a bit different.
-
nikolamandyf, thanks, will report back
-
nikolamBtw, they are all HVM images, no illumos zone image of OmniOSCE? or it is already present in OmniOSCE itself as a brand.
-
andyfomnios-r151052b.ngz.zfs.xz is one that is built for running in a NGZ but nothing is guaranteed - you'll be sharing the GZ's SmartOS kernel and who knows how that'll go.
-
nikolamI can try/ :P
-
jclulowI would use the HVM image. Using mismatched kernel and user bits cannot be correct
-
jclulow(and worse, it may _seem_ correct, but be silently corrupting things)
-
nikolamyup, no go I suppose One would need to compile omnios NGZ on smartos kernel and make a new smartos zone image
