neirac: Yes, I historically have onu'd illumos-gate onto omnios, though certain things like zones and realted I didn't use and I was using a limited set of 3rd party software.

rmustacc thanks, I was kind of worried not able to test my changes in illumos-gate, but thata should solve that.

As long as you use the `onu` from /opt/onbld/bin/onu then it should tweak things to make it work, including fixing up any zones you have so they can at least boot in the new gate BE.

I do it fairly often too
