If you want the change to be persistent, you should create a new file rather than edit the loader.conf defaults (that file can be replaced on upgrade)

Something like 'echo 800x600x8 > /boot/conf.d/bootres' where the resolution is one of the supported ones, which varies by system

but you can out from the loader's `ok` prompt (press escape when the menu appears)

Then "framebuffer list"

any books written on OmniOS? (( or I should stick to the man pages and documents already on the website of OmniOS) perhaps look at Solaris based books?

I have a few unix administration books .. perhaps those are useful if one wants to dive deeper in OmniOS? or the aforementioned Solaris materials...

Is there a specific class of thing you want to learn more about?

@rmustacc was setting up some LX Branded zones with Debian and AlmaLinux and had some hard time finding some examples ... but eventually I figured with the man pages and trial and error how to correct/remove an attribute which I spelled wrong in the zone configuration... but it raised the question where can I learn more in general .. and of course I thought about Solaris immediately
