re:modernity of "solaris" in 2023: i just had to move one of my projects from an openbsd server to omnios because omnios has rustup and openbsd does not. :x

We have leant pretty hard on Rust, FWIW

Some folks in the community did some excellent early porting work, and Oxide obviously is using a lot of Rust so we've poured a bunch of engineer time into it

On the other hand OpenBSD has wifi that works -- it's all about what you (the person doing the work) personally need, ultimately

openbsd tries to do things... differently. sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much.

I respect their commitment to the bit

And I think they are a fantastic example of a project that is successful without being the most popular mainstream thing

Even if it is not a project I personally use haha

i had it on some of my laptops before i got a macbook

it worked very well

but i became lazy in my older age..
