whatever cursed version of qemu scalable systems seems to be using also doesn't follow the virtio spec

in that their virtio devices are both transitional, and have a revision id of 1

(this is the same one that has the broken sata emulation)

jbk: qemu is GPL, you should email these people and ask for their broken source

rather than figuring out by feel

the issue is apparently the qemu version is old(er) and is being shipped as scalable system's hypervisor

(which also gives you few options)

it doesn't get them out of their obligation to give you the source

Perhaps they would consider alternative hypervisors? I am quite happy with our migration from VMware to XCP-ng.

jbk I think it would be very reasonable to add an escape hatch for that being fatal.
