AFAIK, the scheduler in illumos hasn't had anything added to it to consider asymmetric performance in CPUs

Also curious question, has anyone ever tried compiling illumos or opensolaris on a non sparc x86 or arm architecture?

xaero, yes I ran OI on an intel 12th gen. booting it on metal it wouldn't start GUI because nvidia drivers failed (idk if it's because its a rtx3xxx or if it's because the gpu is partially fried) but booted it via KVM on linux with emulated vga drivers and worked pretty awesome

oh yeah, firefox/thunderbird segfault on the liveISO LMFAO (but they worked fine when I actually installed)

I can get you a core dump / backtrace or whatnot if y'all need

other than that tho i was pretty impressed with illumos, it seems to get really sluggish when ram is tight tho compared to linux (i originally gave the kvm 2gb of ram) and seems to really benefit having a hw thread per application
