xaerowill be illumos be 'rebasing' to the the same openzfs repo as freebsd and linux?
-
Denishello all. the sed that comes with illumos supports -E because it seems to be FreeBSD sed. the sed that comes with Solaris 11.3 and 11.4 does not support -E
-
Deniswhat would be the right way to refer to a particular version/date that made "sed -E" available in illumos?
-
yuripvDenis: just check if -E is supported instead? there are no "versions" in illumos

Denisalright
-
rmustaccPractically speaking though it came in illumos.org/issues/509.
-
fenix→ BUG 509: need an open source sed(1) replacement (Resolved)
-
rmustaccSo as long as someone is running something at least 10+ years old, you'll have it.
-
andyfIt's worth noting that SmartOS reverted illumos 586 (fenix) though.
-
fenixBUG 586: sed -i should take an "optional" argument (Resolved)

fenix

andyfwhich is an unfortunate difference between illumos distributions
-
rmustaccGetting broken was unfortunate.
-
andyfSo feature tests are definitely the way to go if you can.

richloweandyf: rather than waiting until everyone updates their shadows, can I suggest email telling them to and specifying the tag, and then giving them a week?
-
andyfWe could do that as part of the primary switch I suppose
-
andyfI started on that because I got a review comment saying that I should use `%h` in some code I wrote, and when I tried the compiler complained. I wonder how many people have done the same at some point.
-
andyfThe new gcc 10 primary will handle it, so it's just any lingering old shadows. A week is a bit swift though, OmniOS will probably take a couple of weeks to update gcc 7 on all releases.
-
richloweI suppose that's true, I always forget lts build capable of building illumos
