drpogic programmers, what do you use for memory leak detection? looking for alternatives to valgrind
-
kevansi have local patches to enable lsan on freebsd
-
drpogicool, is that something you can share?
-
paulfdoes FreeBSD asan not also detect leaks?
-
drpogiunless it got fixed recently, no
-
paulfheaptrack (though mainly a profiler) will also show leaks
-
paulfhmm Linux asan also does leak detection
-
drpogilinux asan does, it works also on netbsd. but not freebsd
-
drpogi( i have not tried freebsd 15 or newer)
-
paulfpersonally I'm a bit in favour Valgrind but I do see the disadvantages, mainly the speed
-
drpogispeed, and i've been seeing it crash on multithreaded code. i've been using it, but wondering what others are using
-
paulfplease report any crashes to either the kde bugzilla or the freebsd bugzilla
-
drpogii'll check that's crashing on amd64, lately have been coding on my 686 box.
-
paulfi386 kernel or i386 on amd64?
-
drpogii386 kernel, p3 xeon box. just a nostalgia fun thing; no expectation of support there.
-
paulfamd64 and arm64 tend to be better supported, i386 is getting some attention (some folks at RH have been adding SSE4.1 support which is already present on amd64).

jimc1827Does anyone know if Pulseaudio on FreeBSD is meant to change both mixer volume and pcm?
-
jimc1827I notice that if media is playing, pactl stops changing pcm, so I can't get the full range of sound anymore through pulseaudio
