nekobit
still cannot post the bug report
-
nekobit
Anyone?
-
meka
nekobit: I just posted
bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=268847 so it works at least for some people

Title: 268847 – sysutils/reggae: Update to 0.2.8

meka: i had to make a new tab... weird
-
meka
it happens to me sometimes if I run firefox, pkg upgrade (and upgrade firefox)
-
meka
but I didn't see it behave that weird in "normal" situations
-
nekobit
meka: there's some timeout happening then
-
nekobit
i left the tab open for a little while
-
nekobit
but... bug reports can take a while sometimes too.
-
nekobit
how do i submit a bug report to the bug report??
-
meka
Just write in the field. Or are you asking something else?
-
nekobit
ah... it just happened again
-
nekobit
it doesn't seem to like me attaching a file
-
meka
but I have file attachment in my PR
-
meka
did you try to create the PR and attach the file afterwards?
-
nekobit
i am attaching a file called dmesg.today
-
nekobit
it does not seem to like it, im not sure
-
nekobit
maybe its just chromium (what im reporting the bug on)
-
bsdbandit

-
bsdbandit
sorry just waking up my self need to do some more rust programming on my freebsd box

I'm able to resolve hostnames on my lan domain just fine, but if I enable local_unbound I get "NXDOMAIN" instead, any idea why?
-
rtyler
Greetings! I am reconfiguring a vnet jaijls host which has two bridge interfaces, with vnet jails split between them. I cannot for the life of me remember how I was previously routing or allowing traffic from a vnet jail on bridge1 to another jail on bridge0
-
rtyler
the PF rules are working properly for NAT such that jails in both are able to get out the external interface
-
rtyler
of course vnet jails off bridge0 can hit other vnet jails off bridge0 correctly, which I would expect
-
tuaris
Can I use ser2net to share a USB device "/dev/uhid0" over the network to a client with socat?
-
rtprio
ravella: without unbound what dns are you using?
-
ravella
rtprio: my router has an unbound instance on it
-
rtprio
but something is not unbound if it's handling dns in your lan, right?
-
idwer
I wonder whether you can set up ddns, with unbound
-
idwer
apparently RFC 2136 isn't supported
-
ravella
rtprio: that's the difference between unbound and local-unbound, no?
-
rtprio
i've never used unbound
-
rtprio
but depending on your name, i suspect the local_unbound is looking in the wrong place for your domain
-
ravella
I did try running `local-unbound-setup 192.168.1.1 1.1.11 ...` to no avail
-
ravella
it doesn't seem to be picking up the first nameserver
-
ravella
weirdly though, it doesn't break anything else, I can still access the internet
-
rtprio
you'll need to tell local_unbound to ask your router for dns or it will never find your internal dns
-
ravella
my guess is that for some reason, local-unbound and unbound don't play nicely together
-
rtprio
becaus local_unbound is asking the root servers for SOA of 'ravella.lan' and they don't know
-
ravella
I don't understand why unbound would be forwarding that request up to a root server, in the case where I have local_unbound disabled it resolves e.g. `ravella.lan` according to static DHCP leases
-
rtprio
man page for unbound(local) says "On receiving a DNS query it will ask the root nameservers for an answer ..."
-
rtprio
but you could confirm this theory with tcpdump
-
ravella
interesting... maybe I don't want local-unbound on this machine then
-
rtprio
i don't see why it would be necessary
-
rtprio
i have the same issue on my network; local dns. obvs if i set the resolver to 1.1.1.1 it's not going to work
-
ravella
well here is a new clue, if I remove the other nameservers and just point local-unbound to 192.168.1.1, I get SERVFAIL instead of NXDOMAIN
-
wikan
hi, I did 'pkg upgrade' and my system is broken :|
-
PredatorONormies
funny
-
PredatorONormies
and sad
-
wikan
actually system works fine
-
PredatorONormies
cannot you use ZFS to rollback, wikan ?
-
wikan
but apps doesnt
-
wikan
don't use zfs
-
PredatorONormies
0.o
-
wikan
firefox for example died
-
PredatorONormies
Your failure lol
-
PredatorONormies
wikan, oh you aren't alone
-
PredatorONormies
Use Links instead.
-
wikan
i use 15 yo machine
-
wikan
zfs isn't a solution here
-
PredatorONormies
Then you'll love Links
-
PredatorONormies
I use a very fast system and Firefox is slow on it, too
-
mason
I use ZFS on my 15 year old ThinkPad T420.
-
PredatorONormies
wikan, I know.. but it IS a backup
-
PredatorONormies
Oof
-
wikan
and needs a lot of ram many ppl told me
-
mason
Yeah. I was running with 8G RAM. For Christmas I upgraded it to 16, but it was fine with eight.
-
mason
I've run ZFS with 1G on FreeBSD in the past and it was okay.
-
PredatorONormies
> <wikan> and needs a lot of ram many ppl told me < yeah
-
PredatorONormies
Well.. "a lot" is kind-of relative.
-
PredatorONormies
I consider 4GB of RAM a lot
-
PredatorONormies
I thikn it's like 4GB/TB
-
PredatorONormies
for nice speed
-
pertho
4 GB is not a lot these days
-
PredatorONormies
pertho, it is
-
PredatorONormies
It's just that software you use is shit
-
PredatorONormies
I don't use software that is nearly shit you use (assuming you use it, because what you just said)
-
PredatorONormies
I can be fine with 1GB of RAM easy
-
PredatorONormies
But just to be safe and future-proof - 2GB.
-
PredatorONormies
People think that hardware needs to be most modern - it does fucking not. Software needs to be better.
-
PredatorONormies
There is a good video about it
-
wikan
how to "debug' a message "cannot mix incompatible qt library 5.15.5 with thos librasry 5.15.7
-
PredatorONormies
Not sure if I have it saved
-
wikan
?
-
wikan
the only qt 5.15.5 is not installed
-
wikan
i can't run any QT app
-
rtprio
wikan: did you update before upgrade
-
wikan
yes
-
PredatorONormies
It seems something related to libraries, with Firefox
-
wikan
firefox has different error
-
PredatorONormies
oh
-
wikan
shared object libicui18n not found required by libxul
-
wikan
but, i have firefox version locked
-
wikan
no update at all
-
PredatorONormies
lol
-
rtprio
wikan: that might do it
-
rtprio
i'd try updating firefox to confirm this; otherwise you'd have needed to pin firefox and all dependancies
-
wikan
i upgraded, works
-
wikan
but still qt apps doesnt
-
rtprio
and what's the error for a qt app?
-
wikan
that cannot mix 5.15.5 libs with 5.15.7
-
wikan
there is only one 5.15.5 package and it is not installed
-
rtprio
which app? can you ldd it?
-
wikan
every qt app
-
wikan
for example kate
-
wikan
i did ldd
-
wikan
there is no 5.15.*
-
rtprio
but is it linked to 5.15.* ?
-
wikan
it is not system message
-
wikan
it is qt message
-
wikan
no information which lib is a problem
-
rtprio
try a sudo srvice ldconfig restart
-
rtprio
unless you've rebooted since upgrading
-
wikan
rebooted
-
wikan
ok, probably i found something
-
wikan
kate works from root
-
wikan
so I know where to look for issue
-
wikan
yeap
-
wikan
found it
-
rtprio
do tell
-
wikan
qt has gtk style enabled
-
rtprio
wtf
-
wikan
i removed it from qt5ct
-
wikan
this mean, the library that makes qt look like gtk app is older than new qt
-
wikan
well i enabled gtk2 style for qt beacuse i like when all apps look the same
-
wikan
now this option isn't working
-
wikan
another error was intel drivers :|
-
PredatorONormies
messy update, huh?
-
wikan
intel dri drivers are now in another package. It is third time.
-
rtprio
fun
-
ghoti
Is there a file somewhere in /usr/share that lists OUIs for Ethernet devices? I seem to recall seeing that years ago.
