Greetings! I am reconfiguring a vnet jaijls host which has two bridge interfaces, with vnet jails split between them. I cannot for the life of me remember how I was previously routing or allowing traffic from a vnet jail on bridge1 to another jail on bridge0

the PF rules are working properly for NAT such that jails in both are able to get out the external interface

of course vnet jails off bridge0 can hit other vnet jails off bridge0 correctly, which I would expect

but depending on your name, i suspect the local_unbound is looking in the wrong place for your domain

I did try running `local-unbound-setup 192.168.1.1 1.1.11 ...` to no avail

it doesn't seem to be picking up the first nameserver

weirdly though, it doesn't break anything else, I can still access the internet

you'll need to tell local_unbound to ask your router for dns or it will never find your internal dns

my guess is that for some reason, local-unbound and unbound don't play nicely together

becaus local_unbound is asking the root servers for SOA of 'ravella.lan' and they don't know

I don't understand why unbound would be forwarding that request up to a root server, in the case where I have local_unbound disabled it resolves e.g. `ravella.lan` according to static DHCP leases

man page for unbound(local) says "On receiving a DNS query it will ask the root nameservers for an answer ..."

but you could confirm this theory with tcpdump

i have the same issue on my network; local dns. obvs if i set the resolver to 1.1.1.1 it's not going to work

well here is a new clue, if I remove the other nameservers and just point local-unbound to 192.168.1.1, I get SERVFAIL instead of NXDOMAIN
