  Am I missing something when trying to boot a new VM from an ISO? I am following docs.smartos.org/how-to-create-a-virtual-machine-from-scratch

  incomplete download would not cause missing cdrom - only failure to complete the install:)

  Once I fixed the incomplete download I had forgotten to switch the settings back to cdrom=/deb.iso,ide

  I had switched it to disk= as a test

  did it appear in system as cdrom (removable) or disk? I guess, it appeared as disk...

  even as a disk it was not booting... maybe it was that it didn't like virtio

  if iso is not created as hybrid image, disk boot from it wont work.
