bennabiyAm I missing something when trying to boot a new VM from an ISO? I am following docs.smartos.org/how-to-create-a-virtual-machine-from-scratch
-
bennabiyBut when I connect on VNC it is saying it didn't find any cdrom
-
tsoome_did you use correct name for is file with vmadm boot?
-
bennabiyyes
-
bennabiyand verified file is in the /root for the vm
-
bennabiyvmadm boot 91f88ea5-3b87-4361-9344-6b6a525c1428 order=cd,once=d cdrom=/deb.iso,virtio
-
bennabiyalso tried with ide
-
bennabiywait... I think I found the problem... the iso did not fully download
-
bennabiynope... still not booting
-
bennabiyfinally got it working
-
tsoome_what was wrong then?
-
tsoome_incomplete download would not cause missing cdrom - only failure to complete the install:)
-
bennabiyOnce I fixed the incomplete download I had forgotten to switch the settings back to cdrom=/deb.iso,ide
-
bennabiyI had switched it to disk= as a test
-
tsoome_hm.
-
bennabiyI will do some testing to verify
-
tsoome_did it appear in system as cdrom (removable) or disk? I guess, it appeared as disk...
-
bennabiyeven as a disk it was not booting... maybe it was that it didn't like virtio
-
bennabiyit was a debian install cd
-
bennabiy:q
-
tsoome_if iso is not created as hybrid image, disk boot from it wont work.
-
bennabiyyes, so it was probably that
-
tsoome_virtio is another thing
