i take it /usbkey is stored on the ZFS volume?

i.e. /usbkey/* (/usbkey/config and frends)

(if so it would be currently impossible for me to update /usbkey/config until i can mount the zpool....the old server ran on 3.5" disks and the new server only has 2.5" cages--currently looking into using a USB enclosure in the meantime)

hi, anyone netbooting smartos on uefi? the platform archive needs bios and chainloading (uncompressed) iso/usb images in ipxe also fails.

.bsd and linux .iso/.img boot fine in my setup; wiki.smartos.org seems has no mention of uefi and config in the pxe article shows only bios snippets, which make me think uefi nework boot is not yet supported.

kn this wiki needs a bit updating. UEFI network boot is supported, but you need a bit updated ipxe (if you are using ipxe). see github.com/TritonDataCenter/ipxe

it's not clear to me from TritonDataCenter/ipxe's README whether this fork actually provides bits required to netboot smartos or whether it's just to maintain a separate build/provide guidance

Not really true. The binary I'm using I built on FreeBSD.

However I may have had to tweak a little, and I didn't build the whole kaboodle, just the one or two things I wanted.

If snponly.efi from the triton ipxe repo as of 2025-01-13 is of use, and you're willing to risk a binary from some rando on the internet, I can make it available.

that lets me kernel/initrd into smartos, thanks. now the kernel fails in usb so my keyboard is dead and fruther services went into maintenance mode flooding the scrollback..
