jfqd: interesting, looks like an upgrade from 2021 or earlier to current, did you upgrade pkgin first?

jfqd: what it means is that you have two ncurses directories in /opt/local/pkg, the easiest fix is to just remove the older directory, but I'd first check to see that the new one is populated correctly (should have similar files inside, just with different contents)

probably an upgrade scenario that the older pkgin didn't handle correctly, ncurses was overhauled a while back so ncursesw was superseded

latest pkgin now always does a self-upgrade first so makes these even less likely once you are past that

I saw that pkgin first upgrade itself and the a second run is needed to upgrade all other packages.

hmm that's odd then, and you didn't unpack any tarballs over the top or anything?

if latest pkgin didn't upgrade it correctly then we have a problem

This issue appeared after the first time updating pkgin manually like you wrote in your email to the smartos list (with the php stuff).

from a 2021 trunk or 2020Q4 or similar?

I do occasionally run upgrades from really old installs to test things but will try to reproduce this

We do only have trunk, but this is a really old image, could be before 2021 :-)

checking the changelog it'll have been between these two dates
