danmcd@jfqd1 one big problem with that mobo: 5. Dual 10GBase-T LAN via Broadcom BCM57416
-
danmcdWe don't support that chip. (It's for the undeveloped bnxt(4D) driver.)
-
jfqd1danmcd: thx for your reply! If the rest is working with SmartOS, I can use an additional intel 10G nic card.
-
jfqd1is it still required to use an hba instead of a regular sata ssd to boot SmartOS with an amd cpu? I had this problem a few years back with Supermicro H12SSW-NT and and an AMD EPIC 7232P CPU. Booting with sata was not possible.

nikolamWhat vnc client do you use after setting up VNC console password for Bhyve HVM? I have set vmadm update UUID vnc_password=somepass (forces 8 characters or less) and vnc client (Remmmina, some other) does not ask for a password nor connects to VNC console of HVM. (I rebooted it after I set it)
-
nikolamIf I set vnc_password= back o empty, VNC can connect again. Can Bhybe HVM have VNC/spice password ?
-
jperkinI use the native macOS client, it doesn't work if there's no password but otherwise is fine
-
nikolamHere Remmina only works if there is no password..
-
nikolamEvery client says something like: ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: Connection refused if I enable VNC password on Bhyve HVM
-
nahamuAre there plans to pass filesystems through to VMs via p9fs or is that kind of an anti-feature for SmartOS?
-
nahamuFound this thread: smartos.topicbox.com/groups/smartos…et-inside-a-os-zone-to-a-bhyve-zone

danmcdjfqd1: disk booting of any sort is relatively recent, and there should be no difference between a sata boot and an boot via HBA.
-
danmcdI don't know where you got that misconception from.
-
jfqd1danmcd: thx dan!
-
jfqd1The message was "One or more I/O devices have been retired" in 2019 with Supermicro H12SSW-NT and the AMD EPIC 7232P CPU.
