jvl, I wonder how that even passed the pre release testing.. Aren't there default testing tools for ZFS as I recall..

there is a test suite, though it apparently did not anticipate whatever steps caused the problem

i've not looked into the specifics, but trying to replicate 'real world' behavior in a test can be challening depending on what you're trying to do
