anyone have an idea why the ooce provided bind-920 and bind-918 services on 054 always end up in maintenance mode?

well, it can be started manually

only the SMF service isn't

ctwatch tells me the contract is empty

I mailed you svccfg listprop from my instance, maybe there are any hints.

Woodstock: look in /var/adm/messages and run named-checkconf (though the latter doesn't catch everything).
