Is it needed to pass through the GPU on OmniOS via bhyve to get a graphical desktop on Open Indiana? On my new install, I don't see much of anything with 'lspci'.

I'm using VNC, and used the text installer. I was hoping for headless XDM at least but lightdm won't run.

I have a few headless systems (VMS) running XDM so it should be possible.
