hello

I have a quick question regarding SAS HBAs. Do you have any recommendation for a well supported PCIe 3.0 SAS HBAs? I am considering purchasing this "LSI 9300-8i 12Gbps SAS HBA"  on ebay, budget is limited to less than 100 USD. Could any one point me to the hardware compatibility list or some relevant documentation?

Guest91: that being said, I believe there's actually a lot of hardware that works that isn't necessarily listed on there, but I'm not totally sure about it. You'd be best searching via hardware IDs rather than the name of the thing. They're listed in format: <vendor>,<device> (e.g. 8086,24c5).

Yeah, there is a notice to that effect at the bottom of that HCL page. I also came across this old mailing list archive.

Looks like someone had luck with LSI SAS 9300-16i and that was 8 years ago. So there is fairly good chance that 9300-8i might work as well.

I added a user to an existing group via usermod -g. It never showed up. No nis/ldap is in use. 'groups user' does show the group. Is /etc/group no longer used?
