Did a bit more looking around, I don't see any changes that could have caused this in illumos-omnios between the two bloodies :|

Well there were some socket changes and native tool build changes... so I guess a flag or something could have changed with the later set but I don't understand those changes at all

Those got in on the 07/04 but thatis when I create the BE so they probably are not in the packages I have installed as I label my BE's with the date I create them.

andyf there is a -d option to log more but it's not really useful

It tries both servers and gives up, as both fail to negotiate TLS and it's required. So... yeah some extra logging would be nice I guess but I don't thinkl there is any.
