sskrashas anyone tried mounting OmniOS pool on OpenZFS hosts?
-
sskrasin my case it's Linux, and it sees no pool, I think
-
ptribblesskras: A couple of years ago I imported a pool from OmniOS into Ubuntu without any problems
-
ptribbleAt the time it was a one-way trip; Linux rewrote the disk labels in the pool in a way that OmniOS couldn't handle
-
sskrasthanks
-
sskrasI tried importing a ~5y old rpool on the Windows implementation and got a BSOD
-
ptribbleThis was after decommissioning some old servers. I installed current Ubuntu on the old rpool disks, imported the data pool, and even tried messing with LXD to replace the zones on the original system. Replaing the postgres and java binaries and things got a whole lot further than I expected
-
sskrasOh, now that was an adventure! :)
-
ptribbleIt does show the advantages of the KYSTY principle, in that the app was completely isolated from the OS.
-
sskrasKYSTY?

ptribble

sskras... and to circle back, now I thought I would try a newer pool from OmniOS. Tried downloading several .zfs.xz and .usb-dd images, but I am not sure what should I write after "zpool import -N" ...

sskrasHere is two excerpts from my terminal: irccloud.com/pastebin/PscgcQeb

sskrasptribble: Thanks :)
-
sskrasI guess I will need to install OmniOS itself to get an empty native pool

sskras(well, not necessary empty:)
