majeklaHello everyone. Still experimenting Bhyve on OI/Omnios Servers. Maybe you could explain me something about RAM and SWAP. As I'm quite new in Solaris/OI/OmniOS world, (coming from BSDs) I don't understand how the system works with SWAP. I've been trying to overload servers with huge amount of VMs on OI/OmniOS and on FreeBSD, and I noticed than SWAP is absolutely no use on OI/Omnios. Server reaches his limits of RAM than crashes. SWAP is not used at

majeklaall. On 2 of my test servers, there was 32G of SWAP indicated, and it remained unused whereas RAM was completety full. Then the server crashes. On Freebsd, SWAP is used when the amount of VM working is important, the server never crashes. Is it a particular problem with bhyve on illumos or a limtation of the system ?

majeklaAs a result, on the same server, working with FreeBSD, I can virtualize 70 VMs, all working, with no problem (70 before real performances degradation) ... Whereas on OI/omnios, it stops at 20 VMs then the server crashes. (20 VM representing the max capacity of RAM than the server has)

majeklaand during the tests, SWAP has never been used on OI/omnios. I don't understand.
