alanc: if I remember how re-configuring sunos worked, it was not much more than a frontend to the linker in practice

or did you have it actual produce the object with the globals in it, rather than something bespoke spitting out a .o?

I remember having to add tcp/ip to osf/1, but not ever doing anything to sunos that has stuck until now

so whatever it was, it presumably sucked less than the dec/osf config process :)
