danmcd my latest upgrade was seagate EXOs I bought them serverpartdeals refurb options, they have a few but I went with the ones that failed at the factory and reworked. They cost a bit less and all had a 3 day burn-in test run according to SMART. pretty happy with them.

I think I payed like the price of 6 brand new ones but got 8 for that money and I could skip the brun-in test I do myself before using them so it worked out well.

I did have to buy them in 2 batches as they are not always in stock

So ended up with 5x 18T and 4x 20T

I have spare and easy upgrade path of 4 disks if I want more space down the line.

But yeah it's a mess I think only seagate, wd and... toshiba? are left right?

OpenIndiana seem to have some problems with commit 3c4373fd2ea0e4725a93265dca43845e370d3683

At least our jenkins died with this a couple of times without obvious traces for the reasons. After using a former BE (oi@oibldofz:~$ uname -a

SunOS oibldofz 5.11 illumos-0a457a339d i86pc i386 i86pc) the jobs seem to work again. I will need to investigate further but that commit is my first suspect.

Alas I won't find time before weekend so I keep our build VM at 0a457a339d for the moment.
