What are the bare essential tools I need to make a bootable Illumos ISO?

I know I need a shell, but I feel like there is a whole suite of tools I need that I am not considering

I have decided to bite the bullet and invest in some consumer grade server hardware, so I have bought a Fujitsu TX1320 M3. According to the plan it should replace my Lenovo Thinkcentre m710q build running OmniOS. The main driving reason is the expendability.

This server is nothing new or fancy, it have the following spects: G4650 (2c/4t @ 3.5Ghz), 16GB 2400Mhz ECC UDIMM, HBA: onboard, supports 4 SATA via MiniSAS-HD, additionally a Fujitsu PRAID CP400i Dual MiniSAS-HD, 8xSAS3/SATA. The mobo also have 2 SATA ports + 1 internal USB. iRMC S4, activated KVM and Remore Media license

the CP400i based around LSI's 3008, and it is flashed with IT mode.

There is no NGFF slots on the motherboard.
