iximeowidle question, what's the threshold for dropping support for old hardware? i've been looking at `i86pc/io/fipe/fipe_pm.c` today for .... reasons. i'm not totally certain it handles wakeups correctly in all cases, though i'm far from saying i understand everything that's going on in it
-
iximeowat the same time we're only willing to load it for two chipsets from ~2003-2006 and i'm not sure if it applies on newer hardware
-
iximeow"newer" meaning "newer than 2006", that is
-
iximeowit also makes the general i86pc/os/cpupm code a bit more complicated, so if we want to keep that around i'll add some notes about why things are how they are, otherwise i can file some issues about what could get simplified
-
iximeow(FIPE itself is FBDIMM Idle Power Enhancement, but i haven't found very much about it beyond that and looking up the relevant vendor/device ids)

richlowecase-by-case, write an ipd, I think.

richlowe(I wouldn't expect it to be a difficult thing for that, tbh, but I don't know)
