just to confirm i didn't miss anything, i've got an mlxcx card where dltraninfo says it's rj-45 when it's an LC fiber connector -- if I've read the mlxcx source, that looks like the mlxcx driver is just reading the sff data and passing it along

so that the type wouldn't be coming from the driver interpreting things, but from the card itself

(it's in a lab which is a bit of a PITA to access)

I think it comes through uninterpretted until libsff

or equivalent, on the kernel side

I was only looking at these bits _very_ briefly until I realized tehy wouldn't work for me anyway :)

i think that's enough just to make sure there wasn't some bit i'm missing

i think either the transciever is messed up, or someone is very confused about things on the system

jbk: Some of that stuff is in higher extended bits ( cf illumos#16023 ) perhaps those bits aren't being sent up?
