where is the code that handles LX zone startup in OmniOS located? (github and on disk)

unixery pkg search lx, pkg search -r lx lx/platform

unixery -r is needed if the package is not installed.

yes, but I mean the actual scripts that handle the zone startup. These scripts must support the distribution, that should be launched.

On an installed system, look around in /usr/lib/brand/lx

and I meant: pkg contents -r lx lx/platform ;)

what is your experience with rolling release distros like Void in a LX zone? Will it break often?

Rolling release covers a lot of ground. If a distro is always on the bleeding edge, then it's far more likely to be problematic.

Although a lot of the problems seen in LX tend to be related to systemd, which shouldn't be an issue for void
