I don't know if anyone cares about new GNOME versions on illumos systems, but gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-session/-/merge_requests/99#note_1865872 asked if anyone had brought up the Wayland stack on Solaris or illumos - I answered for Solaris, and said what I knew for illumos, but don't know the full details on your side
