I think the ppt_* files end up in the bootarchive normally, so deleting them from mounted failing BE probably had no effect

also USB can be a but tricky, as one controller usually has multiple physical ports, I ended up using a startech card which is a pcie bridge to 4 seperate controllers with 1 port each

some of the mainboard ones were behind the seperate PCH controller for me and targeting those had weird results too

well, in fact, i don't use anything but macos on desktop :-( i know that i915 is very picky abount kernel vs. userland sync, but that's all.

and by surprise I noticed that the HCL lists the Intel HD 520 as working, while in my t470 I just have the vesa driver. after some beers I came up with the idea that the i915 might not be loaded - and that was the cause. so I add_drv the correct pci-id, rebooted and then the kernel hangs after loading mouse8042 ;)

one day in the dark deep core of the kernel a mouse hung on its cord, it's so pity...
