Is there any way to search a zfs filesystem (including unmounted clones and such) or a way to get a tree? I have a filesystem that has been around since 2012 and it has all kinds of unused mounts and such. And I lost something. I know it is on there because I found it once before but I have no idea where.

with clones it's compliced. no other way than to mount them. Snapshots have a magic directory under .zfs/ and there is the zfs diff command that might help in narrowing things down

I don't know of a way to list a filesystem without it being mounted

not a practical way, at least, I believe we have a tool that will list the contents of a send stream.
