df -h / as root says I have 70.9G used, should i be able to fit that into a 100gb zfs image?

yes. you won't have breathing room, though.

are you in want of case space (or downtime permits) to connect the illumos drives to the physical machine of the hypervisor?

I don't think that's practical, it needs to move temporarily to a usb 3 drive on my main workstation that I hope to replace before 12-31 at a client's expense

my illumos dev box is currently an Asus gaming laptop that i need for .. well, gaming :)

my main desktop is a Hades Canyon NUC and it's dying :( windows 11 probably is not helping... :)

I want to start a side business streaming on twitch anyway and this NUC just isn't enough

have compression set on datasets?

I'm not currently using compression and I do have a full illumos-gate tree which should compress well

ah on my phone I just go to bugs.illumos.org and type the bug number in the search box

redmine will just take you to the bug if it exists
