Jake_from_State_I read a while ago about FreeBSD re-basing their ZFS codebase to OpenZFS/zfsonlinux(?). I tried looking around so I figured I'd ask here; Did Illumos rebase their ZFS?
-
toastersonnope :) It's quite a bit of work but was discussed
-
Jake_from_State_Will this spell future cross-compatibility issues in the future with Linux & FreeBSD?
-
toastersonNo, ZFS has feature flags. And pools have never been a dualboot kind of portable. You will be able to import. But running two OS's on the same pool was always impossible.
-
Jake_from_State_Thanks, & for my last question is TRIM supported?
-
toastersonYes, but be careful about your drives implementation we had some nasty SSD's before.
-
toastersonLinux has a list of drives it disables trim we find that too unsafe and thus it must be enabled manually.
-
Jake_from_State_Is there a list of which drives have better support? If it helps, I have a Samsung EVO.
-
danmcdTRIM seems to work on my EVO 860s.
-
jbkmost of those SSDs w/ trim issues are pretty old IIRC
-
jbk(from the Linux list)
-
toastersonHmmm, cant find any off hand. It's more likely TRIM is supported in your device than not. I had a Samsung EVO in my last installtion aswell but don't remember if I enbled TRIM. Most SSD's to sane handling by default. I don't remember if the TRIM issues are age or cheapness related.
-
Jake_from_State_Sounds good then, thank you.
-
sjorgemy EVO and QVO's all have trim so far, of the EVO line i have both SATA and NVMe ones
