richlowe: you mean one module at a time, not loading modules in parallel?
-
tomww
richlowe: I run into an option to load one module at a time, breakpoint was *init call. My screenshot remembers that it was ohci:_init() where is last stopped, next ":c" said "Returned from _init, val = 0" and then it hang without any further output.
-
tsoome
tomww if the suspect is ohci, you can configure bhyve not to provide usb and see if that will help.
-
tomww
yeah, that is my current search, how to disable ohci.
-
sjorge
richlowe: you moved instances, did it like take your follower/following list with you?
-
sjorge
seems a lot of people from here are on hachyderm.io and it seems more stable than the one i am on rn
-
jperkin
migration is supposed to take your followers with you (but doesn't work 100%), it doesn't migrate your follows
-
jperkin
I recommend having a good think about where you ultimately want to be, and then do it soon before you build up too many of either and end up losing or having to redo stuff
-
sjorge
Had the bsd.network one since ... one of the eurobsdcons (2018), but never used it much
-
sjorge
hachyderm.io seems to be a generally slightly more broad tech one to be, that also seems a bit more stable
-
sjorge
But yeah, probably best to move ASAP if I do want to move
-

richlowe: well, disabling uhci ohci ehci made s11.4 hang later in iwscn ... I'll stop here and use KVM. But if anyone could
-
jperkin
yeh I gave up on bsd.network pretty quickly once people actually started using it, the admins are awesome but if something is unavailable for 24 hours there's not much point using it
-
tomww
tell me how to send a break to the kernel debugger, that might get us a stacktrace/dump
-
sjorge
jperkin same, people are good but it was down for me most of this morning
-
jperkin
also bsd.network was one of the main sites that didn't support migration for me (the other being sdf.org)
-
sjorge
IIRC they are running on a modified version of the software
-
sjorge
Yeah looks like none of the sdf.org and mastodon.social ones came over
-
sjorge
So a sizable chunk
-
sjorge
At least when I try to refollow people I don't get timeouts nwo :D
-
sjorge
Time to get back to work, lunch break over
-
wiedi
sdf is pretty unreliable, when I try to follow someone sometimes it shows up the next day, sometimes never
-
sjorge
I had to re-follow like 50%
-
sjorge
And for followers it shows 1 but the actual page shows a few more so... sync job probably not completed yet I guess

Overall it's been a good experience, but account move not so much.

tomww before we got -B disable-drivername, the mechanism was to use /etc/system file
