hi, I'm trying to do installer UEFI boot on Dell R510; I've made a USB, booted into the loader, but choosing either "boot installer" or "boot single user" causes a soft reboot. BIOS boot works and installs fine, but I expect disk problems if I go this route. How should I start debugging?

i believe for 15.0, dvd1 and disc1 both include the same wireless drivers, bootonly may have a smaller subset for... reasons (we'll probably fix this for 16.0)

(i think the reasons are that installing all the wireless firmware takes a lot of space on the installer, and bootonly is meant to be small, but i'm not convinced this is a good reason)

my suggestion is usually to install from disc1/dvd1 and then mess with wireless after the installation is done, so you have one problem at a time

although you may still need to set up the network during install so fwget can fetch the wireless firmware so wireless works on the installed system

probably KDE, as we are quite friendly with them, i think some FreeBSD developers are even on the KDE board. GNOME is moving towards a lot of Linux-specific stuff

Both are very fast, but latter is faster

Xinayder: we don't really do Linux-style /proc or /sys. sysctl is the way to get that information

if you need to run Linux software, there is linprocfs(4) which provides some degree of compatibility

I am pretty sure it's sysfs, however, that exposes hardware sensors
