-
bsdbanditafter running the zzz command i get the following error acpiconf: request sleep type (3) failed: Operation not permitted
-
SponiXthere is a command called "zzz" ?
-
SponiXnice
-
rtjMine will not sleep without meltonin.
-
bsdbanditso that zzz command did work when i ran it using sudo
-
bsdbanditthe screen does goes black but when i put the lid down the red thinkpad light still stays on
-
rwpNormally when asleep the red Thinkpad light cycles slowly on and off. If it is solid on then it might not be asleep. I always check by logging into the laptop from another system on the network.

johnjayerwp: brilliant!

Macerssh doesn't send a wol pkt?
-
rwpNo. ssh starts a TCP connection. WOL is entirely unrelated.
-
Macerah ok. i thought that was something ssh could do
-
rwpNope. But you can send a magic WOL packet by other means. And if the firmware is configured for it then it should wake up. The machine might be configured to ignore WOL too.
-
Montoyasorry, was out. Sounds like it is hibernating!
-
rwpHibernation usually refers to full power off saved to storage. In that case all LEDs would be off.
-
rtjThe laptop projects is so cool.

phryki'm currently initalizing (i.e. writing) an authenticated geli provider on top of a gmirror. it's writing with only ~35MB/s and i'm wondering why. /dev/zero can't be a bottleneck here, can it?
-
phrykalready not using /dev/random because that definitely is one.
-
phryktho i'm also wondering if using /dev/zero instead of /dev/random would open the provider up to a known-plaintext key extraction attackā¦

ivykevans: how secure is the usermode loader stuff? would you trust it to load a kernel from an untrusted virtual machine filesystem?
-

pikeFreeBSD noob here, is there a great resource for noobs other than handbook? Something like: Getting started with Intel Wifi network lol. fwget says I need fw for wlan, but I got the latest already.
-
pikewhen I run 'bsdinstall netconfig' and select iwm0, I get this error: Wireless cannot be configured without making changes to the local system!

regisSounds like a trailer for a movie based on an LLM-generated script and casting Dakota Johnson.
