jbo: there are two laptops that are spinning hard drives on the shelf.. they work out the box everything.. i just don't like it cause its so slow
-
oxbar
maybe if i can find a way for it to stop spinning and spinning down it could be usable
-
jbo
I assume that getting audio to work on this platform is a simple fix (i.e. some IDs missing somewhere or whatever). But I really don't know. never looked into it.
-
oxbar
i bought a ssd for it but i have no screw drivers to fit it lol
-
oxbar
ok Thanks though

jbo: should i delete /usr/ports and download latest ports i updated pkg to latest
-
jbo
oxbar, generally - especially if you're new to FreeBSD - don't mix ports and packages
-
jbo
either install everything via 'pkg' or install everything via compiled ports.

I came across a reproducible kernel panic on -CURRENT, the panic is: "domain is null", and the problem appears to go away when I disable bhyve at boot (I'm using vm-bhyve). Is this worth reporting?
-
o0x1eef
I think it's from here: sys/amd64/vmm/amd/amdvi_hw.c:1370: KASSERT(domain, ("domain is NULL"));
-
o0x1eef
Or least from amdvi_hw.c, there's a few of those.
-
o0ox1eef
Hm immediate panic when I start the VM too. I'll try set aside some time to report it
-
tsoome
on current it can happen. it is regrettable, but it can happen.
-
oxbar
Thanks jbo

-
vkarlsen
svragv: I'm pondering the same thing
-
svragv
vkarlsen: interesting, urxvt too?

vkarlsen
I get a different string than you: 10;rgb:ffff/ffff/ffff11;rgb:0000/0000/0000
-
nimaje
probably worth pulling into the ports tree until a new version comes out
-
vkarlsen
Good to know, thanks. I thought I had borked something in my configs
-
svragv
thanks nimaje

vkarlsen
I reported it

oxbar: certain realtek codecs, they are available but at a very low level. there is a known bug there.
