00:19:03 just booted Tribblix USB for new PC. The format command says no disks found. I've installed windows (to turn off LEDs and warm boot), FreeBSD UNIX, Slackware & Devuan GNU/Linuxes, and had almost finished installing Gentoo GNU/Linux. NetBSD UNIX, Artix GNU/Linux didn't detect disks... well, their USB didn't even boot on this PC (but on a laptop) so this may not only be a Tribblix issue. Any suggestions or should I just try OmniOS CE next? 00:20:44 How are your disks connected? 00:21:18 M.2/NVMe 00:21:30 definitely are there and one I'm installing to is new 00:21:37 Did you check nvmeadm list/ 00:22:06 i will now 00:22:09 Basically what I'd start with is understanding did we detect a PCIe device and/or attach a driver. 00:22:17 Then we can see why or why not a block device is missing. 00:22:47 I'm going to have to step out, but I don't know that I'd expect much difference betweeen Tribblix or OmniOS unless the install media is a dramatically different age. 00:22:58 i forgot to 'su - root'. OS I usually install with let you immediately login as root with no password, and I wasn't used to this 00:26:34 i already made Solaris partitions (also for OmniOS CE) using aforementioned. The device names look very much longer than in the instructions 14:51:41 this was yesterday? and this is coming from linux' qemu so not sure if it trasnlates but one CAN also just boot in the terminal , using serial tty and as such making it like a chroot (but more constrained). 16:30:37 rmustacc: sorry I disappeared for a bit there. I've just rebased change 4351, but don't know how to proceed for integration. 16:54:37 spicywolf: Nothing to apologize for. The final bit is written up at https://illumos.org/docs/contributing/#submitting-a-patch. 16:54:53 Feel free to reach out if you have any issues. 16:58:05 rmustacc: roger that. In order to edit the issue, my user (karaiwulf) will need to be assigned to it. The issue number is 17516. 17:01:33 If you refresh the page that should be taken care of now. I assigned you, but you should be able to do it yourself in the future now. 17:04:00 Awesome. Thank you very much! 17:15:55 Actually, do you have any advice for testing the hermon_fm.c changes? 18:31:56 spicywolf: there's not really a good way to test it given even just the paths that are in there, especially as most folks don't have hardware. I think given the nature of the change it'll be okay if you can't test hermon, just mention that in the testing notes. 18:41:08 rmustacc thank you. 20:47:14 i got both Tribblix and OmniOS CE working... but to boot the other, I have to either do a command in one or with zpool anywhere or just put them on separate drives? 23:50:58 Does anyone have any ideas on how I'd produce some specific scsi errors? 23:53:23 Well, I am using a VM, I suppose I could just destroy the underlying file while its trying to access it.
