02:23:14 what causes state-insert (failures) in the output of pfctl -si? (state-insert state insertion failure) 12:31:58 ok. time to sort out if it's possible to get my ancient nvidia P400 working in a jail so it can transcode jellyfin 12:53:46 I have triggered nice panic issuing command "ifconfig vlan501 destroy" 12:56:56 for a moment i thought you meant that was the wrong vlan and you were panicing. i feel that. 12:57:37 do you have a backtrace mzar? 13:09:18 no, it was just a nice panic 13:10:58 no core dump, nothing? 13:11:28 nothing, gone, like New Year's fireworks 13:39:44 mzar: that sounds strange, a panic should typically result in a core dump as long as dumpdev is not set to NO 13:40:40 and savecore should pick that up at startup 13:41:21 i had a sudden shutdown like that once 13:41:24 (my poudriere VM produces 4-10 kernel core dumps each time I power it on because of panic on startup) 13:41:35 (note that dumping on zfs swap wont work) 13:41:37 ... :D 13:42:06 yeah, I warn people in intro(10) of my fork to «make sure to partition for enough space to store dumps that could be huge» 13:54:08 no worries guys, it was just an occasional, Christmas panic ;-d 13:55:53 my xmas gift is implementing dmesg -T: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=291917 13:56:36 good job, thanks 13:59:07 !!! 14:15:00 Hello everyone, I'm setting up my freebsd for desktop usage (altrough I barely start x11) but I managed to auto start my gpg agent, how can i make the same thing for the ssh-agent? 14:15:32 I get this to work by calling on my .profile file, don't know if there's something I can do on my rc.conf. Any recommendations? 14:16:48 what about keychain 14:18:55 Oh, dind't know that software 14:21:17 I'm reading the man page, correct me if I'm wrong please, keychain auto add my gpg/ssh keys right? insted of only starting the aggent's? 14:22:49 it checks if there is a agent running 14:22:52 and starts one if not 14:23:00 and its possible to add keys well 14:24:04 Oh I see, thank you! 14:43:21 leah2, many thanks -- it is a badly needed function for dmesg, oh yes! 15:53:44 How has your experience been with https://github.com/AlchemillaHQ/Sylve? 16:52:27 <|DarkRis3> Merry Christmas every1! 16:58:20 what causes state-insert (failures) in the output of pfctl -si? (state-insert state insertion failure) 16:58:27 merry christmas to you too! 17:22:05 I bought a thinkpad x280. I'm thinking about trying freebsd on it as openbsd can't do what I need and I want to avoid going back to linux. I need to be able to hot-plug a tv via hdmi, play video with audio on it. Also I need FDE and suspending the laptop. Getting the webcam to work when doing video calls like goole meet would be n2h. How are my chances to get this to work? I would like to avoid needing to compile anything for it, if possible. 17:23:57 rkta: hot-plug HDMI should work fine as long as your GPU is supported (most Intel, some AMD, all nvidia). FDE is mostly supported, i don't remember if the installer will configure it for you. suspend depends a lot on hardware, you need to try it to see if it works for you. there is some webcam support, again, depends on hardware 17:27:50 ivy: thanks. I assume that thinkpads have quite good HW support. 17:30:58 i think the current target is Framework (at least the Foundation is working on this) but i would imagine Thinkpads are quite popular... i don't own a laptop so not really sure 18:00:42 suspending is probably hopeless, i have a T480 and I don't remember suspend ever working on freebsd on it. i ended up switchng back to linux but i still have freebsd installed 18:00:50 suspend also doesn't work on linux 18:02:51 On my 2013 MacBook Pro Linux will only suspend on closing it. The mag switch prevents it from sleeping while open lol 18:03:23 I never even tried FreeBSD on it. I was going to give ghostbsd a go but no gnome afaik. 18:03:58 At least not without jumping through hoops. Wish fbsd had a legitimate desktop with Wayland option. :) 18:09:29 i run xorg (gonna try xlibre sometime) and i3 on my freebsd laptops and workstations. works great. i know that's not a full blown gui environment but tiling window manager is all i want so it's awesome 18:14:02 t480 is pretty close to x280, I guess. At least I got the same HW bugs under OpenBSD. OTOH, never had problems under Linux on my former T480. 18:27:49 I highly do not recommend XLibre. If the fact that it's fashware wasn't enough, try on for size shonky coding practices. https://social.treehouse.systems/@ariadne/115703681405262700 18:38:05 i am neither care about X.org nor XLibre. 18:54:48 ya i know there're political opinions about xlibre but i don't care. i just like the idea of xorg finally evolving again after years of stagnation 18:55:47 i dimiss anyone who talks about fascism because they coincidentally never also condemn communism, so it just comes across as petty tribal warfare. and i'm against any form of authoritarianism 19:06:14 thanks, I'll add that to my dossier. 19:30:30 LXGHTNXNG, this is #freebsd, not your church. you should take your religion elsewhere. along with your selfimportant uppercase nick 20:51:05 is ix driver support not built into 14.3? i'm reading a doc that if_ix_load="YES" is needed in loader.conf but doc might be old 20:51:34 % grep -i ix /usr/src/sys/amd64/conf/GENERIC 20:51:34 options _KPOSIX_PRIORITY_SCHEDULING # POSIX P1003_1B real-time extensions 20:51:34 options SC_PIXEL_MODE # add support for the raster text mode 20:51:34 device ix # Intel PRO/10GbE PCIE PF Ethernet 20:51:34 device ixv # Intel PRO/10GbE PCIE VF Ethernet 20:51:34 device ixl # Intel 700 Series Physical Function 20:51:41 it seems to be included in the kernel 20:53:44 ok tyvm! 20:53:52 you're welcome 21:59:31 what causes state-insert (failures) in the output of pfctl -si? (state-insert state insertion failure) 22:39:09 he guys I wanted to know if hardware accel would work for programs like linux-discord or brave
